Sonya Knight is courageously walking along the path set for her and, through her gift of music, she is fulfilling her destiny and leaving a lasting legacy.
Early in her career, Sonya’s talents were highly respected and called upon by others in the music industry. Her voice has also supported renowned singer Kelly Price, with whom she toured with in 2002. Sonya has worked with Darwin Hobbs, and her background vocals appear on his album “Worshipper.” She has also worked with Darlene McCoy and sang the backing vocals on her song, "Finally" from her self-titled album. Other gospel artists she has worked with include Christopher Lewis, and Christian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Candi Staton. She has provided backup vocals to artists, including popular Real Housewives of Atlanta star and music icon Kandi Burruss as well as R&B divas Chante Moore and Faith Evans. She has also put pen to paper writing songs for Sha Simpson, Alyson Williams and Tony Terry. Most recently, Sonya sang background for Contemporary Christian artist John Waller.
Over the past several years, Sonya has had the opportunity to take her talents abroad.
During mission trips that began in 2008, she has ministered in Wales, England, and Burkina Faso, West Africa.
Sonya’s prayer is that her music will be used to draw people closer to God and to one another. What’s next for Sonya Knight? Undoubtedly a continued focus on her life’s mission through music as she focuses on songwriting and her next album. As Sonya says, “Seek God first and the rest will follow...the wisdom, the direction, and the connections.”
